Books
- Tea Shop Walks in North Devon by Norman and June Buckley
I have to say a lot of the UK doesn't really understand the art of the teashop. In Devon, it's something of an art form. However a light lunch does tend to involve home made cakes, local icecream and clotted cream - in a big way. This book will at least help you feel better about it by walking up a good hunger beforehand. If you are passing anywhere near South Molton, don't miss the Copper Kettle!

- Beast of Exmoor by Trevor Beer
If you are interested in the Beast, this slim volume is a great introduction. It rounds up all the (more and less loony) theories, and also give you some suggestions if you fancy trying your hand at Beast-spotting yourself.

Not too bad for driving, but be aware that it does not show every tiny lane: if you are planning to explore in more details, get the Ordnance Survey maps.
